ALASTAIR COOK AIMS FOR TOP SPOT AFTER BEATING

Alastair Cook aims for top spot after beating India – Cricket News Update

England Test squad’s vice-captain, Alastair Cook, is determined to claim the top spot in Test Cricket after beating the no.1 ranked team, India, when the two meet in the nPower Series, which is scheduled to start on July 21, 2011, at Lord’s.

Both sides will contest in four Test matches and if England wins the series 2-0, they would reclaim the top spot at the expense of their opponents.

Cook, who was recently appointed as the ODI captain for the England team, believes that there is nothing better than playing against the top ranked side in the world.

More so, the victory would even taste better if they beat a formidable Indian side, which possess stars likeSachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Captain marvelous, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The left-handed ODI skipper was also in joyous mood while talking about the series victory against Sri Lanka, which has given him much confidence ahead of one the toughest series in his career.

In the recently concluded NatWest Series, the left-hander has been nothing short of superb, as he has averaged 97.50 in the three Test matches against Sri Lanka, with two centuries to his name.

Since being named the ODI captain, Cook has also silenced his doubters, making the transition to the shorter format of the game with ease.

However, the attention is now focused on the Indian clash, where Cook believes that his side will be a tough opposition for the visitors, in what poses to be a great summer of Cricket.
